A cold front should weaken Sunday as it slowly spreads over Maui County. Lingering moisture will remain over most of the state as the front stalls, but the Big Island will likely remain on the drier side. Even as the front weakens, there will be enough instability to produce afternoon clouds and showers, some of them heavy, for the smaller islands.
Another front is expected to stall near Kauai Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing more wet weather. We won't get much of a chance to dry out, as computer forecast models say a disturbance will form near the islands Thursday and Friday, keeping the weather rather wet and unsettled.
A High Surf Advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Monday for a northwest swell that will peak Sunday before slowly lowering Monday and Tuesday. A Small Craft Advisory is also in effect for waters northwest of Kauai and north of Oahu.
