Forecast: Weak front to bring a few showers, warm and humid conditions
Image: Hawaii News Now
A cold front will bring increased clouds and showers, mainly for Kauai and Oahu, through Sunday. We're not expecting heavy showers or thunderstorms with this system; those should remain well to the north.
Maui County and the Big Island will have light winds and afternoon sea breezes that could lead to more clouds and perhaps showers as the front stalls and dissipates over the western end of the island chain. Winds will generally be from the south to southeast, which will spread vog from the Big Island and keep things on the muggy side.
At the beach, surf will be small during the day Saturday. A long period northwest swell is expected to build Saturday night and peak Sunday at advisory levels before gradually lowering Monday and Tuesday. A Small Craft Advisory will take effect for waters around Kauai for gusty south-southwest winds ahead of the approaching cold front.
