24 Hour Fitness opens at Ka Makana Alii, the new mall between Ewa and Kapolei – grand opening is Saturday, nine to one – Hawaiian blessing AND the Kapolei High School Marching Band.

The Hawaii chapter of the American Marketing Association is accepting nominations for its annual awards. The 40th annual awards will be held January 31st with the theme, “Marketing on Fire.”

Hawaii entomologist John McHugh is the new administrator of the Hawaii Department of Agriculture’s Plant Industry Division – effective today.

The conservation and youth education nonprofit Kupu has named a new chief financial officer. Janice Kim formerly worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Seattle. Kupu has also named Luella Costales as director of development and Bettina Mok as director of team-based initiatives.

Looking ahead, Monday will be the early registration deadline for a Chamber of Commerce party at the Trump tower on Friday, December 9 - $45 for non-members, $40 for Chamber members – more information on the Chamber website.

Hank’s Haute Dogs at Coral Street expects by Friday to have its annual shipment of reindeer sausage from Alaska. This is real reindeer sausage, not some goofy Christmas promotion. Well, it IS a goofy Christmas promotion but what I’m saying is, the meat really is what they say it is.
