Police make arrest in brazen attempted purse snatching in Lanikai

LANIKAI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Honolulu police on Tuesday made an arrest in a brazen attempted purse snatching that happened in Lanikai over the weekend.

Police arrested 27-year-old Samantha Goldstein Kaehu on suspicion of second-degree robbery, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and a contempt of court charge. She’s accused of trying to steal a purse from a visitor riding on a bike in Lanikai.

The attempted purse snatching happened just after 1 p.m. Sunday along Mokulua Drive in Lanikai.

Home surveillance video shows a black SUV dropping someone off near three people riding by on bicycles. The suspect grabs a purse from a female bicyclist’s shoulder, and the two struggle for about eight seconds before the suspect finally gives up.
