HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - If you ask designer Asaf Ganot who is a better basketball player, him or his twin brother and University of Hawaii head basketball coach Eran Ganot, he doesn't hesitate. Asaf said, he's definitely better. No question. The brothers have clearly chosen very different career paths. Asaf is a menswear designer who is an up-and-coming name in New York City. He's in town to show off his collection at the upcoming Honolulu Fashion Week.
Asaf said he started in textiles before making the switch to design. In his collection, you'll see a lot of leather and suede in what he describes as "minimalism meets luxury". He announced that he's going to start designing clothes for women as well in the near future. You can see it for yourself at the Hawaii Convention Center on November 10, 2016 at 6pm. Most seats are first-come first-serve. There are some that you can reserve for a fee. You can find them at www.honolulumagazine.eventbrite.com.
Alyson Helwagen, the Publisher for Honolulu Magazine appeared with Asaf on Sunrise. She said this year will be bigger and better than ever. The runway shows will feature a mixture of local and international talent. There will also be a fashion marketplace where you can shop among dozens of local designers. Honolulu Fashion Week runs from November 10 - 12, 2016 at the Hawaii Convention Center. For more information, go to honolulufashionweek.com.
