Forecast: Dangerously large waves expected along north and west shores

Huge and dangerous surf is expected to roll in along north and west shores today.

The waves will reach Kauai this morning, Oahu and Maui County this afternoon, Big Island this evening. The NWS surf forecast for Oahu: North shores 30-40 feet, West shores 20-30 feet, East shores 2-4 feet, South shores 1-3 feet.

High Surf Warning for north and west shores of Kauai, Niihau, Oahu, Molokai as well as north shores of Maui and the Big Island.

High Surf Advisory for west shores of Maui island.

Small Craft Advisory for all Hawaii waters.

Caution to Harbors with entrances exposed to the NW swell.

The weather is cloudy, dry, with light winds this morning. There are changes expected by afternoon. Remnants of a cold front will push through north to south and bring briefly cloudier and wetter conditions. Oahu will see the increase in moisture this afternoon. The showers are not expected to be heavy or long-lasting.
