Forecast: Country swell backing off, but still dangerous

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The big country swell will be backing off through the weekend, although two more significant swells with possible warning level waves are developing for next week.

Only experts in the water, please... and keep in mind that just watching can be dangerous. Check with lifeguards to make sure you are standing in a safe location. The NWS Oahu surf forecast for Friday: North 10-15 feet, West 8-12 feet, East 2-4 feet, South 1-3 feet.

The breezy tradewinds are forecast to hold firm through the weekend. Winds will be 15-20 mph assuring us of more great air quality and comfortable humidity levels. Leeward neighborhoods will get abundant sunshine.

High Surf Advisory for most north and west shores.

Small Craft Advisory for all Hawaii waters due to large open ocean swell and strong trade winds.
