A band of showers pushed over the islands by the trade winds overnight has almost cleared to the south. So the forecast calls for a few passing showers this morning then a mostly sunny afternoon.
The trades are strengthening to 15-25 mph with gusts to 35 mph by afternoon.
High in Honolulu today expected to be 86 degrees.
The breezy conditions will continue through the weekend. Instability aloft will develop on Friday and enhance/expand the mainly windward and mauka showers until the first of next week.
Surf is dropping out in the country, building along east shores. Here's the NWS surf forecast for today: North 4-5 feet, East and West 3-5 feet, South 1-3 feet.
Small Craft Advisory for all Hawaii waters effective at 6:00pm this evening through 6:00pm Saturday.
