PENICHE CENTRE REGION, PORTUGAL (HawaiiNewsNow) - The surf prodigy from the North Shore John John Florence Is bringing the world title back to Hawaii as he was crowned as the world champion during the MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal finals.
Florence made his World Surf League debut at just 13-years-old in the Triple Crown. Over the next 11 years, he would go on to win the Volcom Pipe Pro four times.
He would also become the first surfer in 19 years to dethrone Kelly Slater in the surfer poll before winning the surf world's most presitigious event, The Eddie in February.
Florence is bringing the World Title back to Hawaii for the first time since 2004.
