Hawaii Island police have arrested a Kailua-Kona man in connection with the shooting death of a 36-year-old man last week.
Police recovered Alanaokala Solomon Covington's body in a lava field off Hawaii Belt Road.
At noon Saturday, Kona patrol officers arrested 29-year-old Gafatasi Jorden Kaipo Napoleon in connection with the case.
He was charged Sunday night with second-degree murder, car theft, and promoting a dangerous drug and criminal property damage. His bail was set at $271,000.
Last Sunday, police received an anonymous tip about a possible murder in Kailua-Kona. An investigation led to the discovery of the burial site late Tuesday afternoon.
An autopsy determined that Covington died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
