HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

It's flu season and that means it's time for a flu shot! Contrary to some of the more common myths, the flu vaccine is safe and effective and you cannot get the flu shot from the vaccine.  It is also recommended that everyone over 6 months of age get a flu shot. Babies younger than 6 months cannot be immunized, so it is important that we all need to be immunized to protect them.

Seniors and those with chronic disease or immune issues are at greatest risk from having complications from the flu. The best way to protect yourselves and your family is to get a flu shot. The flu vaccination can reduce flu illnesses, doctors' visits, and missed work and school due to flu, as well as prevent flu-related hospitalizations.
