Maui firefighters are battling a stubborn brush fire in Kahikinui, which sparked up again Monday.
The fire was originally reported around 3:30 p.m. Sunday near Piilani Highway, between mileposts 27 and 28 – the same area that burned about 6,000 acres in February.
Police shut down Piilani Highway near the Auwahi Windmills and the Manawai Gulch.
Crews used bulldozers and helicopter to tackle the flames.
At last check the fire scorhed a total of 90 acres.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
