The annual Food & New Products Expo will be returning to the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall this fall. Expo dates are scheduled for Friday, October 14, Saturday, October 15 and Sunday, October 16, 2016. The show will feature over 200 exhibitors with a weekend full of interactive activities and island favorites for the whole family to enjoy.
With over 200 exhibitors, the Food & New Products Expo will have something of interest for everyone. One of the biggest exhibits planned for that weekend will pay tribute to Hawaii’s love affair with SPAM—at the Musubi Mania Zone.
“Hawaii consumes more SPAM than any other state in the U.S.,” said Harry Alonso of AMP Group, LLC. “It has become such a huge part of the food culture here, which is why we are so excited to have an exhibit that celebrates SPAM with the Musubi Mania Zone.”
The Musubi Mania Zone will feature all things SPAM, and will also showcase innovative kitchen products and accessories, a wide variety of musubis served in original and creative ways, and novelty crafts. How To Make Musubi demonstrations and an interactive musubi contest where the winning musubi will be crowned Hawaii’s Best Musubi are also planned for the exhibit.
Also being featured at the expo, through an exclusive partnership with Austrian Treats Hawaii, Zotter Chocolate will now be available in Hawaii. Zotter chocolates stand for quality, variety, creativity, sustainability and are 100% organic and fair-trade. Zotter Chocolate is among the best chocolate producers in the world and is internationally considered one of the most innovative producers and trendsetters of the sector.
Additional exhibits will include a Special Crafters’ Village, a Plant Sale from Oahu Nursery Association, various Food and New Products booths, Home Improvement Ideas and Keiki Land exhibits, and a SPCA Dog Adoption booth. Food samplings will be available from specialty exhibitors, live cooking demonstrations from local restaurants, and a farm-to-table farmer’s market.
This year’s Food & New Products Expo will take place on Friday, October 17 from 5:00–9:00p.m., Saturday, October 18 from 10a.m.–9:00p.m. and Sunday, October 19 from 10:00a.m.–5:00p.m. Tickets will be available for purchase at the Blaisdell Box Office 15 minutes before the doors open each day. General Admission tickets will be sold for $5 while active military members and students can enjoy a discounted ticket price of $3. Seniors age 60 and older and children 12 years and under with a paying adult are free. Those who wish to donate a canned food item to Hawaii Food Bank will receive free general admission. With an array of activities and events planned for this year’s expo, the 50th annual Food & New Products Expo is an event no one will want to miss.
