KAPAA, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kauai police are investigating a shooting early Sunday that left a 52-year-old Kapaa man seriously injured.
Police have arrested Jeffrey Simpson, 57, for second-degree attempted murder and two counts of reckless endangering in connection with the incident. His bail was set at $1 million.
The shooting happened just after midnight Sunday, when police were called to a home on Kamalu Road in Wailua Homesteads.
Officers found the victim lying on the floor of his bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim lives in the home with several adult roommates, including Simpson.
Simpson was not at the home when police arrived. But by Sunday afternoon, Simpson had made contact with police and arranged to turn himself in.
He was booked at the Lihue police station about 1:55 p.m., and is expected to be arraigned in court Wednesday.
The victim was initially transported to Wilcox Hospital, but was later airlifted to the Queen's Medical Center in serious but stable condition.
