Rainbow Wahine 26 match BWC streak snapped at LBSU

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

For 26 consecutive matches, the Rainbow Wahine were undefeated in Big West play. But, tonight, against Long Beach State, Hawaii was dealt it's first loss in conference play since 2014.

UH took LBSU to five sets at Walter Pyramid. But ultimately fell to the 9ers, 17-25, 25-23, 16-25, 25-21, 13-15. All-American opposite, Nikki Taylro recorded a match high 28 kills for the Rainbow Wahine. Middle hitter, Annie Mitchem, and outside hitter, McKenna Granato each recorded 10 kills of their own. 

Hawaii now drops to second in the conference, undefeated Long Beach will remain on top. 

The Rainbow Wahine will return to the Stan Sheriff Center next week to host UC Irvine and UC Davis.
