At least two employees at the Kahului Airport were treated for asthma as heavy smoke from a nearby brush fire blew into the facility on Tuesday afternoon, the state Department of Transportation said.
About 12 firefighters battled the small brush fire, which scorched about 7 acres near the airport, at around 11:20 a.m.
The DOT said no commercial flights were impacted and that smoke was a big factor at the airport.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
