The Hawaiian Electric Company said power was restored around 1 a.m. Wednesday. It initially went out around 6:40 p.m., but came back around 10. Then it went out once again before being restored several hours later.

More than 5,000 customers were affected in Nanakuli, Waianae, Makaha and Wahiawa.

It's not known what caused the outage.
