Hawaiian Word of the Day: Ko'i

The Hawaiian Word of the Day is ko'i. Ko'i is the Hawaiian name for an adze, the main tool used for woodworking and carving. One of the earliest tools made and utilized by Hawaiians, the ko'i was fashioned by fastening a sharpened stone, generally basalt rock, to a wooden base with coconut sennit. The word ko'i also refers to the young stage of the of the red snapper fish, or 'ula'ula. The Hawaiian Word of the Day is ko'i.
