Humid, wet weather is moving in for the first half of our weekend. Heavy showers over east Maui have resulted in ponding on roadways and visibility problems for drivers.

Most windward and mauka neighborhoods are getting meaningful rainfall this morning, and the wetter weather is expected to continue through Saturday. Leeward areas will also get showers. The source is moisture and low pressure that used to be hurricane Orlene, drifting up from the southeast. It's interacting with an upper level disturbance over the islands and that's triggering the heavier showers. Expect uncomfortable humidity until the trades return on Sunday.

High in Honolulu today will be a sticky 86 degrees.

Surf is expected to come up out in the country tomorrow. Today's waves: 2-4 feet south and east, 1-3 feet north and west.

Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for East Maui until 8:00am. That could be extended or expanded. Stay with us, your Severe Weather Station for the very latest.
