HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

In this edition of Business Report, Howard breaks down new unemployment data from the state, covering the month of August. These figures are actual, that is, without seasonal adjustment.

ISLAND – JOBLESS – (LAST YEAR)
Kauai 3.4% (3.9%)
Oahu 3.0% (3.2%)
Molokai 7.9% (10.1%)
Lanai 5.8% (3.2%)
Maui 3.2% 3.3%)
Big Island 4.1% (4.3%)
U.S. 5.0% (5.2%)

Each operating county now has lower unemployment than the national rate, though Molokai and Lanai still have higher rates than that. And Lanai actually has higher unemployment at the moment because of disruption to tourism by the renovations to the two Four Seasons resorts. Manele Bay has reopened.
