The intersection of Punahou and Dole streets was closed briefly early Tuesday after a reported underground fire in a Hawaiian Electric Company manhole, Honolulu police said.
Crews said the cover was blown off at about 2:30 a.m.
It’s not clear how it happened, but there was no visible smoke and no blackout in the area.
The intersection was opened about 15 minutes later.
