Local Connection: Getting out of Gridlock

When students returned from summer to the U-H Manoa last week– it created once again the traffic trouble we have come to call the annual "School Jam."

Oahu deserves its reputation for terrible traffic…but it's time to stop just throwing up our hands and reminding people to leave early.

That's why at Hawaii News Now we've inaugurated a project we call "Getting Out of Gridlock."

We've assigned reporter Jim Mendoza to the traffic beat and have established a traffic section on our digital platforms – which reach more people that any digital news operations in the state.

You can be part of this effort by contacting us with your comments…concerns…complaints and ideas.   We will regularly take your feedback to the people who manage the state and county roads and highways…and seek explanations and solutions.

As with our "Homeless in Hawaii" and "Priced Out of Paradise" campaigns…this is part of our continuing commitment to address the problems that most impact our community.  As always…we look forward to your support in facing these challenges together.
