Shark warning signs were posted by Ocean Safety lifeguards at Kalama Beach Saturday morning after a live whale and parts of a whale carcass was spotted roughly 100 yards offshore.
The precautionary action is being taken to warn people both in the water and onshore about the potential hazard.
No sharks have been seen in the area.
NOAA will be on scene to monitor the situation.
