Top-ranked Bishop Gorman handles Kahuku in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (HawaiiNewsNow) -

In a prep match-up featuring two of the nation's top-25 teams, the best of Nevada was markedly better than the best of the North Shore.

Bishop Gorman High School, the Las Vegas powerhouse ranked #1 nationally by USA Today, dominated Kahuku at Fertitta Field on Saturday, holding the Red Raiders to a season scoring low in a 35-7 Gaels victory.

Kahuku, coming off an 83-0 win over Radford last Friday, allowed more points to Bishop Gorman than they allowed in their first five games combined.

Gaels quarterback Tate Martell, an Ohio State commit, accounted for all five Bishop Gorman touchdowns, including four through the air.

Kahuku freshman Sol-Jay Maiava, the quarterback prospect who received an offer from Michigan this summer, scored the Red Raiders' only touchdown on a 45-yard keep in the second quarter.

The loss was Kahuku's first in their last 18-games.
