SEASIDE PARK, NJ (RNN) - An explosion occurred near the route of a Marine charity 5K run Saturday morning.
The explosion happened around 9:30 a.m. Eastern. There are no reports of injuries.
The Semper Five 5K was being held to the support the MARSOC Foundation, a Marine Corps Special Operations Command charity. Following the explosion, the race was canceled.
Al Della Fave, of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, said there were more devices that appeared to be wired to the device that exploded. He said it was apparently meant to target the run because of the timing of the explosion.
The race was scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Eastern, but was delayed due to last-minute registrations.
