HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A recent recall on approximately 113,000 Ford models has also affected more than 100 Honolulu Police Department vehicles, the department confirmed.

A spokeswoman said 114 Ford Interceptors, or about one-third of its vehicle fleet, are affected. HPD is working with local dealers to make the repairs.

In the meantime, the department will be putting some of its older cars back on the road before the first shipment of 2016 Interceptors -- not affected by the recall -- arrives shortly.

HPD informed its officers of the recall and asked them to notify the department of any problems.

Ford issued the recall in August, saying engines in certain models – including Interceptors – can fail or stall without warning due to a fuel pump problem.
