HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
The National Weather Service has allowed a Flood Advisory to expire for the Big Island of Hawaii, but people are still advised to use caution around streams and rivers, which could remain elevated for a few hours Sunday evening.
The advisory was issued earlier Sunday afternoon after heavy rains and thunderstorms developed around West Hawaii island in a band of moisture trailing behind Tropical Storm Lester. The rain fell in an area from Waimea through Waikoloa, through Kailua-Kona and down to Captain Cook and Honaunau.
