One lane of Kamehameha Highway near Kaaawa will be closed and traffic will be contraflowed this week to repair damage caused by pounding surf.
The repairs will require the temporary closure of the northbound lane on the highway near Kanenelu Beach.
The work is scheduled from Saturday to Monday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The emergency repairs are needed to maintain the integrity of the highway, the state Transportation Department said. The damage was caused by high surf pounding the embankment and shoulder of the highway.
