Madeline continues to weaken and is now a tropical depression southwest of the Hawaiian islands.
Hawaii County emergency shelters opened on Tuesday as Tropical Storm Madeline headed toward the state. but all were closed on Thursday as the threat from Madeline passed.
Some 198 people across the Big Island stayed in shelters on Wednesday.
