AIEA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Honolulu firefighters on Tuesday morning battled a two-alarm building fire in Aiea.

Honolulu Fire Capt. David Jenkins said firefighters were dispatched around 7:20 a.m. to the blaze located at 99-103 Moanalua Rd. They arrived to a two-story building where smoke and flames could be seen from the front of the structure.

Firefighters brought the fire under control by 7:45 a.m. and extinguished it by 8:30 a.m.

HFD said all eight people were at home at the fire were able to get out. However, paramedics had to evaluate one person who later refused further treatment.

Honolulu police earlier closed off both directions of Moanalua Road, between Nalopaka Place and Heleconia Place, but lanes were reopened around 11 a.m.

The cause of the fire as well as damage estimates are under investigation. HFD said neighboring property and vehicles were damaged.
