HILO, BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A Flash Flood Watch has been canceled for Hawaii Island as Tropical Storm Madeline passes south of the state.

The watch was originally in effect from Wednesday morning through Thursday afternoon, but it was dropped Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service said deep moisture from Hurricane Madeline affected Hawaii Island beginning Wednesday morning, bringing the threat of flooding rains.

On Wednesday afternoon, heavy rains prompted forecasters to issue a Flood Advisory for the Big Island.

A Flash Flood Watch means conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding.
