HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - MTV'S Video Music Awards were last night and Beyonce stole the show with a fiery performance.  Serena Williams introduced the Queen Bee for this unexpected performance featuring several of her hits from "Lemonade."  The album scored Beyonce eight Moon Man trophies -- including Video of the Year for "Formation."

Britney Spears made a big return to the show.  This is the first time since 2007 that she's taken the V-M-A stage.   She performed her new single, "Make Me" with G-Easy.

Kanye West premiered his new music video at the V-M-A's but it was his rambling speech at the show that drew everyones attention.  He talked about art and merchants....compared himself to Walt Disney and Steve Jobs....and also poked fun at the time he grabbed Taylor Swift's microphone in 2009.  Kanye's video "Famous" was nominated, but he lost out to Beyonce for Video Of The Year and Calvin Harris Best Male Video.

Several olympians were at the V-M-A's including Michael Phelps.  Ryan Lochte was not there....but "Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon did his best to channel the embaddled swimmer.  Fallon hilariously spoofed Lochte.  In another joke he said, "Is it too late now to say sorry? That's my jam. I wrote it, I produced it,"

We've noticed a fairly new celeb blog:  Professional Golfer Michelle Wie!  She's calling it the "Fore Seasons Blog.  Wie is teaming up with another professional golfer, Michelle Kang.  In the latest blog entry, Wie says on instagram she is "talking about my 3 favorite back stretches to loosen up your back in the morning and to increase your shoulder rotation. Also included 3 supplemental stretches in the post".  Not only do we want to say hello to Michelle and her family, but also Danielle and her family too; Danielle Kang's Mom's name is.....Grace Lee.....not related to our Grace....at least not that we know of...

For Hawaiian music enthusiasts and fans, it's a wonderful time of year!  It's usually at the end of summer/beginning of fall when a lot of new CD's or albums are being released.  If the artists are looking to release it this year, they will do so around now to have it out before the holiday season approaches.  Usually consumers will buy either Christmas music during the holidays, or if they're giving music, releasing now gives the CD traction with the audience so it's at least well known before the holiday buying season.
