Forecast: Hurricane Madeline approaching islands

Scattered windward and mauka showers this morning then plentiful sunshine. Trade winds will be breezy.

High in Honolulu 89 degrees.

Hurricane Madeline strengthened overnight. It is now a category 2 storm with sustained winds of 100 mph. At 5 a.m. the center is Madeline was 690 miles ESE of Hilo, 895 miles ESE of Honolulu. The current forecast track has Madeline passing just to the south of the Big Island Wednesday afternoon/evening as a Category 1 storm. The track and intensity could change, so stay with us here at your Severe Weather Station.
