Suspect arrested in connection with Kalihi armed robbery

KALIHI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
Honolulu police arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with an armed robbery at a Kalihi business early Wednesday.
Police said Tuaipu Sefulesene, who has no local address, was booked on suspicion of first-degree robbery, possessing an ammunition, driving without a license and having an open container of liquor in a vehicle. However, he has since been released pending investigation.
Police swarmed the intersection of Waiakamilo Road and Colburn Street around 2 a.m. when the robbery happened. A witness said she heard five gunshots and screaming.
Investigators said multiple suspects were involved and that several items were stolen.
No injuries were reported.
Police would not release further details as the case is still under investigation.
