HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
A South African couple spent their honeymoon journeying to Hawaii and breaking a world record along the way.
Riaan and Vasti Manser spent 39 days on the Pacific Ocean rowing from California to Hawaii on their boat, appropriately named Honeymoon. They broke the world record for the fastest row from California to Hawaii.
But it wasn’t all smooth sailing – the small boat capsized, leaving Riaan with a head injury during the first week, according to several reports.
The record was previously held by a team of four men.
The couple also set their trans-Atlantic record in 2014, rowing from the African mainland to North America.
