KAILUA-KONA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the Big Island through Tuesday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters said deep tropical moisture and an unstable atmosphere may produce heavy downpours and a chance of thunderstorms over the island.

NWS expects there will be a greater chance for flash flooding in certain areas because the ground is already saturated from heavy rains over the past few days.

A Flash Flood Watch means weather conditions may lead to flash flooding.
