Woolsey happy to have "keys to the offense"

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Long before the Rainbow Warriors left for Australia to battle it out against Cal, there was a different kind of battle among the bows for the starting quarterback job. Just last week that finally came to an when head coach, Nick Rolovich, named Ikaika Woolsey the man for the job just in time for the team to head down under.

As the bows are getting settled into their new home for the week, their offense is getting to settle in around their starting QB. The senior signal caller has been the favorite to earn the job since before the preseason began. Now that it's been made official he says he's ready to get under center and get the season started.

"I mean it felt great for Rolo to just give me the keys of the offense," said Woolsey. "Obviously I worked pretty hard for it. A lot of guys pushed me, you know, Aaron, Dru, the rest of the offense. So, I think it's exciting. I'm ready for the season. It's my last go round so just trying to leave it better than I found it and I'm pretty excited for the season."
