All eastbound lanes of the H-1 Freeway near the Bingham Street exit have been reopened after a multiple-vehicle crash caused a major traffic backup Monday morning.
Police originally closed off all but one lane following the crash at around 7:35 a.m. They reopened all lanes around 8:45 a.m.
Two people were taken to the hospital in serious condition, including a 22-year-old woman and 70-year-old man, Emergency Medical Services said. No other injuries were reported.
The accident happened during the rush-hour commute on a day in which thousands of University of Hawaii and private school students returned to school for the start of the fall semester.
