From Diner en Blanc Honolulu
For the third consecutive year, Honolulu will host Le Dîner en Blanc on August 27th, 2016. The annual secret affair promises another unforgettable evening of elegance and merriment as it takes over an undisclosed public space whose location is only revealed minutes prior to the commencement of the event. Over 1,000 foodies, fashion and cultural enthusiasts attended last year and more than 1,500 are expected to attend this year.
In previous years, Le Dîner en Blanc – Honolulu was held on the grounds of cultural landmark Iolani Palace, and under a stunning beachside sunset at Ko Olina lagoon. This year’s secret location promises to be equally as spectacular. Additonally, chef Zach Sato of Hotel Wailea, Hawaii’s only Relais & Châteaux property, will create a special dinner menu as well as design picnic baskets that guests may pre-order to enjoy at the event. Guests may also pre-order bottles of Apothic wine or Taittinger champagne to pick up onsite as well.
Just before the event, bystanders will witness groups of guests all dressed in white gathering at specific rallying points all across the city. Guided by Dîner en Blanc volunteers, these groups will then converge on one of the city’s most beautiful settings, travelling by organized bus to the secret location. Every guest brings their own gourmet feast, table, chairs and table setting. Over the course of the evening, they eat and celebrate amid music, entertainment and dancing.
The evening is filled with visually breathtaking moments including the waving of a cloth napkin to mark the beginning of the dinner. Following dinner, mingle and dance under the stars with one of Honolulu’s hottest DJs. When at the end of the evening the trumpet sounds, guests pack up all of their belongings, pick up all their litter and head back into the night, leaving behind no sign of their elegant revelry.
