Aloha Festivals: Spirit of Aloha Contest

Jim Fulton is on the Board of Directors for the Aloha Festivals.  We talked about the 70th Annual Celebration of Aloha Festivals; Hawaii News Now is partnering with Aloha Festivals in their "Spirit of Aloha" Contest happening now.  

Nominations are now being accepted for the Spirit of Aloha Award at the Aloha Festival's website (www.alohafestivals.com) or at any O'ahu Longs Drugs store. Residents should submit their nominations by Wednesday, August 31, describing in 300 words why their nominee deserves the Spirit of Aloha Award. Examples depicting the nominee's aloha spirit must be within the last five years.

The top three nominations will be posted to the Aloha Festivals' website for viewing and public voting from September 8 to 12. The Spirit of Aloha honoree will be contacted during the week of September 12. Nominees must be a resident of the State of Hawai'i.

The Spirit of Aloha honoree will be announced at the Waikiki Ho'olaule'a on Saturday,

September 17 and will participate in the Aloha Festival's Floral Parade on Saturday,

September 24. In addition, the honoree also will receive a two-night stay for two at the Hilton Waikoloa Village with airfare courtesy of Hawaiian Airlines. The honoree's nominator will receive a $250 Pearlridge Center gift card and a $250 Royal Hawaiian Center gift card.
