The trade winds were 10-15 mph early and should pick up to 15-20 mph with some stronger gusts by afternoon into this evening before slowing down this weekend. The showers will be off and on throughout the day, but mainly in the morning hours.
Leeward neighborhoods will see mostly sunny skies. The high in Honolulu for your Aloha Friday will be 89 degrees, but feel warmer.
Surf is still a bit elevated south and east as the trade winds crank up. Enjoy the trades while they are here because the winds drop off on Monday. That will bring on humid weather.
Small Craft Advisory for Pailolo and Alenuihaha channels, Maalaea Bay, and coastal waters south and west of the Big Island.
Overall, the locally breezy trade winds will continue through Friday, then ease during the weekend. An area of enhanced moisture embedded in the trades will keep showers active this morning, followed by a drier pattern on Friday afternoon. Then showers are expected to increase again during the weekend as a mid-level trough moves over the state over windward neighborhoods.
Winds will weaken further early next week, with a very warm and humid land and sea breeze pattern prevailing.
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the trades while they are here!
