Warmer, wetter, windier weather to start our Thursday.

At 5 a.m. the air temperature was 78 degrees with a "Feels Like" of 80 degrees. Showers were dampening windward and mauka neighborhoods primarily, making the trans-Koolau commute a bit treacherous.

The trade winds were 10-20 mph early and should pick up to 15-20 mph with some stronger gusts by afternoon. The showers will be off and on throughout the day.

Leeward neighborhoods will see mostly sunny skies. The high in Honolulu will be 89 degrees, but feel warmer.

Surf is still a bit elevated south and east. The south side is declining, while the east side is building.

Today's surf forecast: 2-4 feet east and south, 1-3 feet north and west.
