MAUNA LOA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - Want to live on Mars?
Well, it might be a little while longer until you can do that.
But in the meantime, the University of Hawaii is recruiting new volunteers for its Mars simulation study.
Volunteers are needed for two eight-month missions in 2017 and 2018.
Crew members live at the Hawaii Space Exploration Analog and Simulation site, an isolated Mars-like landscape on the slopes of Mauna Loa.
The NASA-funded studies are aimed at investigating how astronauts perform on long missions, and how they handle the rigors of space exploration.
The deadline to apply is Sept. 5. For more information or to drop your name in the hat, click here.
