Delta Air Lines outage impacts Hawaii travelers

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Delta passengers in Hawaii were awaiting the fate of their flights on Monday after the second largest airline experienced a power outage in Atlanta, effectively halting and canceling flights and causing massive delays.
Several flights were canceled Sunday night departing Hawaii for Los Angeles, Salt Lake City and Seattle. On Monday morning, two additional flights arriving from Narita Airport in Tokyo were also canceled.

As of Monday morning, Delta officials say they have canceled 451 flights due to the outage and are currently operating 1,679 of nearly 6,000 scheduled flights.

While the ground stop has been lifted and limited departures are underway, it will take hours to get all of the flights back on schedule, officials say.

Because of the lag in computer information being brought back online, passengers on Delta are asked to call the Delta reservation system directly to check on flights at 1-800-221-1212.

A travel waiver is also available for this week.
To check on departing and arriving flights in Hawaii, you can check websites such as FlightStats. Plug in the airport location, select Delta for the airline -- with or without the flight number -- and select either arrivals or departures.
