Remnants of former tropical cyclone Howard will combine with an unstable airmass to continue the threat of heavy rain and possible thunderstorms for Kauai, Niihau and Oahu. A Flash Flood Watch remains posted for those islands through Monday afternoon. Drier trade wind weather should spread from east to west Tuesday and Wednesday before moisture from the remnants of now Tropical Depression Ivette moves in late Wednesday and Thursday.
A High Surf Advisory will remain posted overnight for the east-facing shores for Kauai, while the wind swell from ex-Howard continues to lower. Surf may rise again due to a swell from Ivette late Monday, and could reach advisory levels. There will also be a series of small south swells through the week.
