HONOLULU (AP) - Hawaii is announcing a special election to fill a seat in Congress left vacant after the death of U.S. Rep. Mark Takai.
The state Office of Elections says the special election will be held on Nov. 8 along with the Hawaii's general election.
Chief Elections Officer Scott Nago says voters in the special election will choose a candidate to fill the last two months of Takai's term. On the same ballot voters also will select a candidate to serve a two-year term that begins in January.
Nago says the election for the two-year term will appear on the ballot right before the special election.
Nomination papers will be available for candidates on Aug. 15.
