HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Chances are, you'll see some superheroes in your social media feed this weekend.
Comic Con Honolulu (also known as Hoku Kon) kicked off Friday and runs through Sunday.
The family-friendly event celebrates comics, costumes, and everything in between. Upwards of 5,200 people are expected to attend the convention, which features fan panels, industry guests, activities, video games, table top games, and autograph opportunities.
On Friday, celebrity appearances include Colin Ferguson of the sci-fi show "Haven," and Grant Imahara, the decade-long host of Discovery Channel's Mythbusters.
This year's event will also feature George Takei, who played Hikaru Sulu on the original Star Trek. Takei will make his first appearance Saturday when he signs autographs.
Those who weren't able to register before the show can still do so at the door.
Registration at the door ranges from $30 to $65.
