HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Another Hawaii native has been added as the latest to join the all-star cast of Disney's newest animated adventure, "Moana," and she's not hiding her excitement.
Nicole Scherzinger, former lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls, will be playing Moana's mother, Sina, in the movie that's slated to open Nov. 23.
The 38-year-old shared a photo of her character on Instagram and wrote, "One of my dreams has come true! Im a frikkin Disney character! I'm so excited to announce that I will be playing Sina in @Disney's #Moana In theatres from Nov 23rd! Cheehoo!"
Disney says Scherzinger will play a supportive but cautious mother figure for Moana, voiced by Mililani teenager Aulii Cravalho.
"Star Wars" actor Temuera Morrison will play Moana's dad, Tui, while Rachel House will voice her grandmother, Gramma Tala.
The cast also includes Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who plays Moana's demigod companion Maui.
