HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Just one week ahead of the start of fall training came for the University of Hawaii football team, Hawaii News Now General Manager, Rick Blangiardi, spoke at the Honolulu Quarterback Club to discuss his experience on the football field, the current state of news, and, of course, UH football.
When camp opens next Monday, so will begin the Nick Rolovich era in Manoa. While many hope the massive overhaul the coaching staff has undergone will lead to a turnaround season, Blangiardi has seen to it that audiences throughout the state get to know the Rainbow Warriors' new coach, and what he can do for the program. Earlier this summer Hawaii News Now inked a deal to air "The Nick Rolovich Show" on Sundays at 10:30 p.m. on KGMB, and Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m. on KHNL.
Blangiardi says he hopes the show can serve as a platform to connect fans to Rolovich and the Rainbow Warriors, and to make the community aware of the work that is being done both on and off the field by the team.
"The one thing we want to do is we want to create a brand in Nick," said Blangiardi. "We want him to have a personality, make people feel like they know him. He's already done a tremendous amount of outreach within the community. But, I think even beyond that what we want to do is put the program in the most favorable light win, lose, or draw [by] focusing on the coach, his players, his assistant coaches, the fans, everybody. And, just create something everybody can feel really proud of again."
