HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Former Saint Louis Crusaders football star Jeremiah Masoli, the starting quarterback for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League, set a new CFL record for consecutive completions by a quarterback on Saturday night.
Masoli, who finished the game 31-of-38 passing for 391 yards and 3 touchdowns, completed 23 consecutive passes during one stretch in the second half. The previous record, according to Canadian broadcaster TSN, was 22 straight completions.
"I don't think it has really set in," Masoli told TSN. "I'm not really focused on records or things like that. I just want to win and get back to the championship."
The completions came when they were needed most, helping Hamilton turn a 31-6 deficit into a 37-31 victory.
